How I Keep My Family’s Schedule Totally Organized

Keep your family totally organized using this one free app!

I’m a list-maker. Always have been. I make detailed grocery lists, and epic to-do lists and lofty goal lists. But often those lists go unread by other members of the family, *cough* husband *cough*, and things get forgotten. And then I get frustrated. Can you relate? But I think I’ve finally solved the “honey I forgot the list!” syndrome.

Using Cozi has totally changed the game for my family. No more lost lists or forgotten appointments! Everything gets organized and scheduled in one place where we can all find it.

What is Cozi?

Cozi is a free family scheduling app.  I was hesitant at first because I’m a pen + paper kind of girl.  But so far, Cozi has really delivered.

You can use it to store your grocery or shopping list, multiple to-do lists (one for him and one for you!) as well as maintain a calendar of events.

I used to be all about pen+paper lists but with Cozi I can keep everyone on track!

How does it work?

You set it up on your phone first, then you can add family members.  They install the app on their phones and sign in with your account.  Then everything you input into Cozi will show up on everyone’s phones!  So when I add something to the grocery list, my husband will see it.  And he can never claim to have lost the list because it’s in his phone!

It’s super handy because if my husband thinks of something we need, he will often forget to write it down.  Now he just pops it into the app and I see it right away.

It’s been great for keeping track of upcoming meetings and appointments.  Once the kiddos start music lessons and have sports practices those will get scheduled in Cozi as well.  I can see this app being super useful for keeping the schedules of teenage children with their own phones organized too!

Cozi

Can you tell that I love Cozi?!

Haha, so at this point I think I’m starting to sound like a saleswoman.  But that’s silly because the app is free!  I just seriously love this app.

Yesterday we had errands to run so we decided to divide and conquer.  I ran to the fabric store while my husband & kids picked up a few groceries.  And for the first time in, maybe ever, I didn’t receive a zillion texts from him asking what we needed!  He had all the details in his phone, no need to sheepishly admit that he forgot the list.

Plus I love that I can still add things to the calendar or shopping lists when I’m out and about.  No need to force myself to remember them until I get back home to my paper list.

Seriously, you should try it!

I mentioned that’s it’s free, right?!  Give it a try, once you get used to it I doubt you’ll ever go back.

Tell me in the comments, do you have any tricks or apps that help keep your busy family on track?

  1. I’m going to have to look into cozi. We currently use google keep for lists but I could definitely use something with a calendar component.

  2. I’ve been trying to think of ways that I could digitally sync information to my husband. He’s by far the most forgetful person that I know, and my grandfather has dementia! Anything that can help my husband’s memory is a winner in my world. Thanks for the recommendation!

  3. I asked for planner recommendations on my Facebook page and this app came up several times. I’m a pen and paper gal, but I definitely see the appeal of syncing with the whole family.

    1. For many things I will always stick to pen and paper. But this app works so well for the lists and tasks that everyone needs to know about!
